Preparation & Aftercare

Waxing

Preparation:

  • Prior to waxing ensure that the hairs are long enough to be completely removed by the root. To achieve this the hair needs to be at least 0.5cm long.
  • If you have been shaving prior to waxing, it is important to note that it might take a couple of waxes to get your hair into a cycle of growth that allows for the most effective finish.

Aftercare:

  • It is normal for the treated area to be a little red, sensitive and warm following waxing due to a histamine reaction. This should subside 3-6 hours following the treatment.
  • Limit exercise for the first 36 hours after waxing, as sweat is a breeding ground for bacteria.
  • Don’t expose yourself to heat or UV rays for at least 48 hours.
  • Avoid using body lotion, moisturisers, fragrances, soap or deodorant on the area for the first 12 hours.
  • Don’t use saunas, spas or public pools for 48 hours after waxing to avoid cross infection.
IPL – Hair Removal Treatment

Preparation:

  • The treatment CANNOT be performed on the skin that has had unprotected sun exposure 6-8 weeks prior to treatment. Sunscreen MUST be worn daily and reapplied when required for the 6-8 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Fake tanning products must not be used on the treatment area for 2 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Avoid tweezing, waxing, and electrolysis for 2-4 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Minimal hair growth must be left prior to initial consult but following treatments the area must be shaved 1 day prior to your appointment.
  • Expected directly following treatment:
    • Swelling and redness around some hair follicles is expected. This should reduce 24-48 hours following treatment.
    • Hairs will continue to ‘grow’ for the next week but then will fall out 10-14 days after IPL treatment. These hairs can be shaved until they fall out if required.

Aftercare:

  • Avoid very hot baths/ showers/ steam baths/ sauna for 1 week following treatment.
  • Avoid swimming in strong chlorinated water for 1 week following treatment.
  • Do not exfoliate the treated area for 3-4 days following treatment.
  • Avoid waxing, plucking or electrolysis while having treatments as this physically removes the target. The area can be cut or shaved.
  • Sunscreen MUST be worn, when and if treatment area is exposed to UV. Failing to do so will affect results and may result in refusal of treatment.
IPL – Skin Restoration and Rejuvenation- Photo- Facial, Pigmentation Removal, Vascular Lesions:

Preparation:

  • The treatment CANNOT be performed on the skin that has had unprotected sun exposure for 6-8 weeks prior to treatment. Sunscreen MUST be worn daily and reapplied when required for the 6-8 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Fake tanning products must not be used on the treatment area for 2 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Expected directly following treatment:
  • Immediately after the IPL treatment the skin will be provided with topical actives to support results. A cooling masque will then be applied to the skin.
  • Mild redness is expected following the treatment and will usually last between 24-48 hours. Mineral makeup can be used to conceal redness if required. In some cases small blisters may appear, if these are uncomfortable you can cool the area using a cool face cloth.
  • Any pigmentation that responds to treatment (sun generated pigmentation) will become noticeable or darker (milo-effect) before lightening or disappearing.
  • Slight swelling can be expected when treating vascular skin concerns.
  • The treatment area for specific concerns (pigment or vascular) may feel hot for a period of time following treatment

Aftercare:

  • Use only cool water to wash face for 2 days after treatment.
  • Avoid very hot baths/ showers/ steam baths/ sauna for 1 week following treatment.
  • Avoid swimming in strong chlorinated water for 1 week following treatment.
  • Do not exfoliate the treated area for 5 days following treatment.
  • Sunscreen MUST be worn and reapplied as required continually. This is ongoing; failing to do so will affect results and may result in refusal of treatment.
  • Entering a spa or swimming in chlorinated water will reduce the life of your tan.
Achieving the best Tanning results

Pre-tan:

  • For best results shower and exfoliate, do not apply any moisturiser, make-up or deodorant
  • Hair removal is best performed at least 24 hours before getting sprayed.

What to wear:

  • When being sprayed you can wear as much or as little as you wish
  • Loose clothing is recommended to be worn after being sprayed until showering. For ladies we also recommend not wearing a bra between being spray tanned.

After tan:

  • It is recommended to shower 6-8 hours after B Gorgeous Tan original or 2-4 hours after application with B Gorgeous Rapid Tan.
  • For a longer lasting tan, always use mild forming body wash for showering.
  • Avoid any activities that may result in perspiration before your first shower.
  • Use a good moisturiser daily to nourish & moisturise the skin.
